Ms. Q's 2025 Summer
How I spent my time...

In the last week of June, I attended the National Mariachi Education Workshop in Las Vegas with Mx. Allen-Benes, with whom I will be starting the Carlsbad Unified String Collective Mariachi Club this school year. We are so excited to start this program and bring Mariachi to North County! I've learned so much and still have so much to learn, but I am so thrilled about the potential value this after school program has within our community!

For most of the month of July, I spent my time alternating between relaxing at home with my cats, gardening, barbecuing and preparing healthy food, making art, making music with friends, making too many trips to and from our string repair shop, and upgrading some storage within my classroom. I'm so thankful to the folks at the Carlsbad Educational Foundation and Yamaha, for helping us with our service day and helping me to realize my vision for a storage unit for our extra bows and audio cables!
I closed out my summer spending the end of July in South Lake Tahoe with my partner and friends (I even attempted wake surfing 😅)! And spent and am spending the entire month of August playing horn in the pit orchestra for "Fiddler on the Roof" at the Moonlight Ampitheatre.
